Welcome Reception on Sept. 5th
All attendees of IWAENC 2022 are invited to join the welcome reception in the foyer of the plenary hall which starts at 18:00. Drinks and appetizers will be served and the get-together will be accompanied by live music.
Banquet at Schloss Weissenstein on Sept. 6th
The banquet of IWAENC 2022 will take
place at Schloss Weissenstein. Schloss Weissenstein is a palatial
residence in Pommersfelden (close to Bamberg) and was built between 1711
and 1719 for Lothar Franz von Schönborn, Prince Bishop of Bamberg and
Archbishop of Mainz. Today the castle still remains the property of the
Schönborn family.
Weissenstein
castle in Pommersfelden is one of Germany’s greatest Baroque buildings.
Lothar Franz von Schönborn employed some of the best-known architects of
their time to construct a fantastic building of European importance.
One particular highlight is the splendid furnished staircase covering
three floors. The garden has been converted from a formal Baroque garden
to an English park landscape.
Schloss Weissenstein has survived all wars in its 300-year history unscathed and is therefore one of the best-preserved castles of its era. It also contains the largest private Baroque art collection in Germany, containing over 600 pictures.
